Element Restaurant

“I love cooking and seeing the expression on the faces of my customers when they eat my food.” Nengah Suradnya, Executive Chef and Owner of Element Restaurant

When Nengah Suradnya moved from Lombok, Indonesia to Australia in 1991, he was determined to achieve his dream of becoming an executive chef and owning his own restaurant. This dream came true on August 2014 when he opened Element Restaurant in Ubud, Bali.

Executive Chef, Nengah Suradnya: A Background

His career started at a variety of 5-star hotels and restaurants in Australia including The Park Hyatt Hotel Canberra. With his exceptional skills, he soon began to receive numerous awards for his outstanding creations in the kitchen. Nengah then graduated from Canberra Institute of Technology studying Culinary Arts. The knowledge he gained and lessons he learned at CIT, as well as the colleagues and friends he made, propelled him even further until he began working at The Trsyt in Manuka. He and co-worker, turned business partner, Andrew Cruickshank opened the first Element Restaurant in Canberra in July 2004.

At Element Restaurant in Australia, Nengah became known for his succulent duck sausage and duck confit. Having multiple articles and restaurant reviews written about his exquisite creations by The Canberra Times and Good Taste Magazine, these delicious dishes would later follow him (along with his loyal fans) on his menu at Element Restaurant in Bali.

With hard work, focus and dedication – dreams do come true!

He then returned back to where his heart lies, Indonesia, to begin working with Alila Hotel in Jakarta. Because of his continued outstanding achievements, he was featured on the MNC Lifestyle TV show in an episode titled, “Chef Surprise”. A natural leader, he began offering hands-on cooking lessons to others.

As his life came full circle, Nengah moved back to Bali where he built Element Restaurant, which had its grand opening on August 2014. The restaurant, now a known and respected establishment and landmark, is located in Penestanan, a suburb only moments outside the centre of Ubud.

Element Restaurant has become known for its high quality menu, offering luxurious delicacies at affordable prices. To-date, Element Restaurant continues to receive some of the highest ratings on Trip Advisor and is known for having the best burger in Ubud, perhaps even Bali.

Serving up his succulent signature dishes, specifically his famous Duck Sausage and Duck Confit Nengah and his staff have proven time and again that their prime directive is the delivery of top notch service, and delicious experiences to their customers.

“I am passionate about sourcing the finest quality ingredients and combining them to produce something memorable with tastes and flavours from around the world.”
Nengah Suradnya, Executive Chef and Owner of Element Restaurant

As they say in Indonesia, Selamat Makan!
